In chapter one, the things l remember most are the different types of landforms the we have in Washington and how they gradually were added to our state. I learned that there are so many different sections that divide up our state, according to the environments with in them. This was important to ou state becuse it shows who we are, what people think, when they hear and say pur state.

Chapter two- The wildlife and different environments and climates in each “zone.”

Muhammad Book

Instead of doimg an assesment we did a project which was creating a book about Muhammad’s life. I really enjoyed doing this, i would rather do projects, like this, than doing assesments, in the future. I think, and agree that it is more fun for student when we do this instead of quizes and having to study for them. We get more into the assignment this way. The fact that we did a rough draft and we had to have it done at a certian time really helped.  It made use actually do a rough draft and not saving the whole thing for the last minute. then after the rough draft is all done it makes it easeier to do the final, because you already have it done, you can kinda just copy it, make it nicer and add detail. I also really enjoyed that we had to write the paragraphs in sections, that organize what we have to write about.

10 Time Travelers Tips; Arabian Peninsula 600CE

Filed under: Assignments — anniemrt09 at 8:23 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2009

For you time travelers out there traveling to the Arabian Peninsula in 600 CE, you might want some idea about want you will be facing and tips in surviving them. The Arabian Peninsula in 600 CE can be very harsh, if you’ve never had the experience surviving there. You may be going to an Arab Desert you’ll want to make sure that you have a camel. A camel offers you tons. You can use a camel to carry your cargo, give you a ride and provide food. Say you decide to travel to the oases, there you will find fresh water and vegetation. The main resource oases provide is the Date Palm Tree. Which you can use to build a house; bark for walls & leaves for thatch roofs. Oases provide fertile lands for farming, you can use hollowed out date palms for irrigation pipes. The fibers from the trees make good ropes for tying, holding things down and many more things. Arabia’s mountains get moist winds from the Indian Ocean, bringing as much rain as 20 inches each year. This rain and the height elevation of 1,000 to 12,000 feet, help keep the temperature cool. Be prepared for possible frost if you may be going in the winter. I recommendbringing something warm. If you plan to stay long here, the best shelter for this terrain is houses made of  mud bricks. Farming on steep slopes like the Asir Mountain’s can be a little hard. Create steep like terraces, or flatareas. You build low stone walls around narrow strips of land.  Doing this it enlarges the space for usable for farming food. Use manure and ashes from cooking fires to fertilize the soil. By creating terraces, the terrace walls also conserve water by preventing it from running off the fields. Also to obtain more water construction dams and for watering the fields make irrigation systems. Underground storage containers, leather bag, and hollowed-out trees come in handy for storing extra rain water. Melons and Pomegranates grow well her and would be good to farm. If you plan to trade with the people you can grow trees to produce frankincense and myrrh. This way you could save it for you self and for trading. I hope these Arabian tips will help you time travelers out there. Good luck and enjoy the Arabian Peninsula and it’s many climates.

Dear Mom and Dad,

This first trimester has gone very good so far. I have learned about least common mulitples, Greatest Common Factors and many other things in Math. In Science I have learned alot about Grand Canyon Rocks that I probably would have neaver learned. In Social Studies I’ve learned a lot also-about the Medieval world. Learning how to write better paragraphs and make better yellows and reds will come very handy from Language Arts. In Art and gym I have learned a lot such as, volleyball, weights and different art techniques.

From,

Annie
